How did America change after the American Revolution?

Virginians ideas, such as George Washington, James Madison, George Mason, and Thomas Jefferson, worked together to build and set up standards for the new constitutional government.
The ideas and thoughts of George Mason and Thomas Jefferson helped form our rights in Virginia and in our country. The rights separate the church from the state and freedom of religion. These ideas helped Jefferson draft the Declaration of Independence.
George Mason along with other members of the convention did not sign the Constitution. They believed that the Constitution gave the government too much power, instead of the people.
